“If ever there was such a fusion of cultures, this was it. […] If it (music) brings people together, is presented so professionally and gives pleasure no matter the form or genre, then its mission is accomplished." |

“What I found most striking throughout Chants was the way this duo used effectively modern techniques with traditional sounds. ‘Garabi’ and Renzo’s own composition ‘Kuluri’ proved how much these two musicians were on each other’s wavelength.” |

In January 2006, Musiconnect teamed up with the organisation Namakunda to present a series of highly successful concerts entitled “CHANTS” (MITP, Valletta, MALTA) in which percussionist Renzo Spiteri joined forces with kora and balafon player N’faly Kouyate from the Republic of Guinea (and a core member of the renowned Afro Celt Sound System). Described as "an amazing fusion that ran like a seamless thread during a two-hour performance" (A.G.S. The Times, February 4th, 2006), this dynamic duo concert was the premier performance of an ongoing collaboration that was also presented in September 2006 at Verdala Palace (Malta) under the distinguished patronage of H.E. The President of Malta, as well as during the Sori-WOMAD Festival 2006 held in Jeonju in the Republic of Korea. |
